NEW DELHI: Jamiat Ulama -i-Hind (JUH) general secretary Maulana Mahmood A Madani has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to take punitive action against Dasna temple priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati for using “the filthiest and most abusive epithets to insult the Prophet” and thereby causing hurt to the feelings of Muslims in India and across the Islamic world.
Maulana Madani shared that in the letter to PM he has said “due to the inaction of police and law enforcement agencies, more and more such hate mongers are getting emboldened day by day”.
“It is high time that the authorities responsible for maintaining law and order should wake up and rein in such rogue elements. This video is openly accessible on the social media and visualise the repercussion it is likely to have upon the social harmony in India and upon our image abroad,” Madani added referring to a video in which the priest is seen speaking. Madani also said, “It is to be noted that some people have already filed FIR in order to restrain and punish the culprit under section 153A & 295A of IPC. But so far no action has been taken.”
